Adherence to New Federal Regulations
– July 23, 2009
Heard, McElroy & Vestal places a high value on your privacy and the security of your personal information. We have policies in place to safeguard the information you provide to us, whether it is in paper or electronic format.
As such, in the past we have been allowed to provide tax return information to banks or other third parties at your request. We also have been allowed to use some tax return information to help us identify and provide solutions available from HMV affiliated companies as part of our comprehensive plan to service you.
However, new federal regulations under IRS Revenue Procedure 7216, now require that we obtain written consent for the disclosure or use of tax return information for any purpose other than tax preparation. This means we will be unable to provide copies of your tax returns or tax information directly to third parties without your prior written consent. Due to the new rules, we will also need your consent to reference or discuss with you services that do not directly relate to your tax return but that might be of benefit to you.
The applicable consent forms for both individuals and businesses can be found below for your review. These forms describe why we have used or disclosed your information in the past and request your consent to continue doing so in the future. We assure you we will continue to do business as we always have and we will continue to respect your privacy and maintain confidentiality.
